Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible

Velacompress is operated by Tajalys Inc., 80 Mapleton Road, Unit 11-84, Moncton, NB E1C 7W8, Canada. Tajalys Inc. is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

2. Your images never leave your device

Velacompress compresses and converts images entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Your images, their metadata (EXIF), and their file names are never uploaded, stored, or processed on our servers. You can verify this in your browser's network tab while you work.

3. What we collect, and why

Using the free version requires no account and no personal information. We only process personal information when you buy a Pro license or contact us:

• Purchase— email address, cardholder name, country, and transaction details (amount, date, invoice number). Used to process the payment, issue the invoice, and deliver and recover your license key. Your card details are handled by Stripe; we never receive your full card number.
• License delivery— your email address and license key, sent to you by email.
• Support— the content of the emails you send us, used only to answer you.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

4. Analytics, cookies and local storage

We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking tools, and Velacompress does not set cookies. Your browser's local storage and IndexedDB are used only to remember your compression preferences and your license key. That data stays on your device; clearing your browser data removes it.

Like any website host, our hosting provider processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. We do not use this data to identify you.

5. Service providers

We share only the information each provider needs to perform its service:

• Stripe, Inc.(United States) — payment processing and invoicing.
• Cloudflare, Inc.(United States, global network) — website hosting, and the service that creates the checkout session and sends your license key.
• Zoho Corporation(data stored in Canada) — transactional email used to deliver your license key and answer support requests.

We will update this list before adding a provider that receives personal information.

6. Information processed outside Québec and Canada

Stripe and Cloudflare may store or process your information in the United States and other countries, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. Zoho stores data in Canada, but its support staff may access it from outside Canada when needed to resolve a technical issue. We use these providers because they apply contractual and technical safeguards consistent with Canadian privacy law and the GDPR.

7. How long we keep it

• Transaction and invoice records: 6 years after the end of the tax year of the purchase, as required by Canadian tax law.
• License records (email address and license identifier): for as long as Velacompress is commercially operated, so we can resend a lost key. You may ask us to delete them earlier.
• Support emails: up to 3 years after our last exchange.

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information, withdraw consent, or receive a copy of it. Write to [email protected]. We answer within 30 days. We may keep records we are legally required to retain, such as tax records.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec if you live in Québec, or to your local data protection authority if you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom.

9. Security incidents

If a security incident involving your personal information presents a risk of serious harm, we will notify you and the competent authorities as required by law.

We will post any update to this policy on this page with a new date. Material changes will be announced on the website before they take effect.
